These tell you how the name is doing, not who owns it:
The two cadences are deliberate. Ownership can change overnight and some changes come with deadlines attached, so it's checked weekly. Performance moves slowly, and a monthly number is more meaningful than a weekly one.
Weekly — ownership signals
These are the things that can change who owns what:
- Trademarks — new filings at the USPTO that match or resemble your name, in your classes
- Domains — availability across .com, .ai, .io, .co and .net, plus registrations and expirations
- Business entities — new LLC and corporation registrations that conflict with your name
- Social handles — whether the handles you hold are still held, and whether open ones have been taken
Monthly — performance metrics
These tell you how the name is doing, not who owns it:
- Authority score
- Referring domains
- Backlinks
- Organic keywords
- Branded search volume
- Namespace — how much of the first page of Google your name holds
